Welcome and an introduction to the concept

We feel music is a great medium to push the 'payload'. People like Bob Dylan, Niel Young, Tracy Chapman, Indian Ocean, Lynyrd Skynryd, Pink Floyd are a great example of using music for great purpose. Music is a great ice-breaker. It is a great, inoffensive (if rightly used) way to say meaningful and sensible things :)

Watch this YouTube Video or read on further below to know more about Music for Meaning.

The Music for Meaning concept has two major components:

1) Music for Meaning 'Street Jams'
OK. Street jams are nothing but informal gatherings (nobody climbing on a stage or anything) at everyday 'street locations' (without disrupting the normal flow of life), where we get together to sing and play using unplugged instruments, singing songs which have a positive feel and create a nice, healthy environment for subsequent, sensible interactions and discussions among people.

Street jams are not about musical wizardry, nor are they limited in terms of styles, genres or languages. They are more about spontaneous, freaky, live jamming!

We feel positive social gatherings create a sense of community and are highly relaxing and enjoyable.

2) An Online (Internet) based discussion forum
This is like a discussion board where people can have specific conversations/ discussions, about great songs and everyone's own interpretation of its implications and introducing/ exchanging more great songs to each other, including original compositions of the contributors.

We do that on our facebook page: Facebook.com/music4meaning

Welcome! And hope you like the concept and help it grow! I feel we'd be much better off having a nice time like this than showing off expensive cars to each other which guzzle petrol!

If you'd like to participate in the jam, or simply let your opinion be known, the best way is to connect to the Facebook Page. That is where the action is! You may also send an email to: team@musicformeaning.org or just leave a comment in the section below.
